Placement Testing

Placement Exams

To ensure proper course selections, all SummerStart students must complete placement exams in math and writing. Your prompt completion of the exam will ensure your enrollment in the appropriate writing and math course. For students in the music, art, drama, or transmedia programs of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, the mathematics test is optional.

Math Placement Exams

The Math Placement exam will be available May 1, 2017. For the exam, you will need to sign into your MySlice account using your NetID and password. Follow these instructions: Go to and click on the following links:

Writing Placements are available on the enrollment form.

Exams must be completed on or before June 2, 2017

These exams are given under the honor system. Note that these assessments are for placement purposes only, with no impact on your course grades. They should accurately reflect your skill level in order to assure your placement in the course.
