Ranine Shedhadeh

Ranine’s sister participated in SummerStart last year and said it was the best time of her life. But Ranine didn’t believe this until she came to the program. “SummerStart has helped me with academics for the fall semester. I had a good relationship with my RAs and they explained the dos and don’ts of SU. And my professors and instructors were very helpful and even stayed after class to help me. They went through everything step-by-step.”

Ranine’s advice for future SummerStart students: “Go to SummerStart! You won’t regret it. There’s programming in the building, and the residence hall feels like your second home, your family. I made key friends and learned about the campus, academic advisors and counselors. SummerStart will give you a head start. Open up and don’t be afraid to talk to people. Have fun, but not too much.”

Ranine said she doesn’t want SummerStart to end. “I want the academic year to be like SummerStart. I’m going to apply to be an RA for SummerStart 2014.”

Ranine was the student speaker at the SummerStart Banquet.
